PERSONALITY Henry is a calm, easy-going kid. His mild temper and reluctance to cause problems makes him a well liked guy. Despite not being one to fight, he is well practiced in self-defense thanks to his sensei, but would assuredly prefer not to fight if he can help it. His feelings extend towards his digimon, Terriermon, who he doesn't want to fight other digimon because he's worried he will evolve and lose control again. Henry has a preference towards talking things out, which isn't always received well by more aggressive people. So far Terriermon as a digimon is still a secret, even to his own family, as he fears if they know he has a real digimon they will take him away. Despite the secret, he is heavily family-oriented and protective of his litter sister, Suzie, who believes Terriermon is simply a stuffed animal to play with. He isn't sure why he has a digimon or a D-power but he is always on the lookout for other tamers. Henry doesn't really have many friends, despite not being disliked by most people. He's the quiet kid in class, and isn't really a part of any big groups. He isn't a popular kid but he also isn't unpopular. Few people bother him, but he isn't exactly lonely. Especially with Terriermon now, who he has started to view as his best friend. Some part of him is worried that he has received a digimon now due to sheer random luck, but because something - like that television series said - needed him and Terriermon for a major event. HISTORY Henry was born as the third child, with an older brother and an older sister. His mother is a Japanese woman named Mayumi, and his father is a Chinese man named Janyu. When he was 4, his younger sister Suzie was born. Henry would join his father and become a Tai Chi student, learning how to fight more for self-defense than anything. Unfortunately things went wrong when he was forced to defend himself from a bully in school and injured the boy, using the skills he had learned, despite having been told to be extremely careful. Regretting this, he became passive and non-aggressive, choosing to go through a pacifist route. His father brought home a computer one day from his work, which had a newly installed Digimon game. Henry chose Terriermon as his partner and battled many digimon through the program, and eventually, Gorillamon, a champion opponent. Despite his father's frequent reminders that it was just a game and digimon weren't, when Terriermon evolved into Gorgomon and went on a rampage destroying many damage, he felt upset. And when Terriermon was badly injured in the game, he was even more upset and a Blue Card materialized. That was the day where he swiped his first blue card and his injured Terriermon materialized in his hands, not just data on a computer, but a real, living creature. A digimon. He vowed then that he wouldn't allow Terriermon to fight ever again, because he didn't want him to get hurt. He has not met any other humans with digimon or even people who show any sign of knowing digimon are actually real. He allows his sister Suzie to play with Terriermon, thinking he is a toy and not an actual digimon, although sometimes feels guilty when she makes Terriermon dress in things that upset him. Still, his secret is safe and he is protecting Terriermon not just from danger of fighting, but from being found out by the real world. A chance decision led him to realizing that swiping cards in his D-Power gives Terriermon buffs and skills just like it did in the actual game. |
